Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300)

The prospective marriage visa, also known as the fiancé visa or engagement visa, allows individuals who are located outside of Australia to come to the country to marry their prospective spouse and subsequently apply for an onshore partner visa.

The visa grants a stay of 9 months from the date of its grant, and it is intended for those who plan to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen and wish to remain in Australia permanently.

The application for the prospective marriage visa must be made from outside of Australia and is granted while the applicant is still outside of the country.

Eligibility

Genuine Relationship: The applicant must be in a genuine relationship with their prospective spouse, who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

Age and Meeting Requirement: Both parties must be over 18 years old and have met in person since turning 18.
